Trauma Informed Therapeutic Support Worker
Location: Worthing
Employer type: Employed (direct employer)
Hours: 11 hours per week (term‑time only). Pay: £20 per hour.
Job Overview: Supporting an 18‑year‑old male with the impact of trauma by developing independence, life skills, communication, and emotional regulation.
Duties
- Provide patient, calm, and responsive care to deliver a sense of security and stability.
- Support the young man in accessing community services, volunteering, cooking, and other independence skills.
- Act as a job coach, helping with communication, regulation and workplace readiness.
- Employ trauma‑responsive practices based on the work of Bruce Perry and Dan Hughes.
- Use de‑escalation techniques and co‑regulation to help the individual feel safe.
- Travelling to appointments by car or public transport with the employer\’s support.
- Other relevant duties as required.
Candidate Qualities
- Respectful of privacy and confidentiality.
- Reliable, with good time‑keeping.
- Patient and possesses excellent interpersonal skills.
- Honest, cheerful, and engaged.
- Ability to attune and co‑regulate with the young man.
- Ability to develop social communication skills.
- Non‑smoker or will refrain from smoking during working hours.
Additional Requirements
- Right to work in the UK.
- Willingness to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check.
- Trauma‑responsive training or experience preferred.
- Drivers licence required: Yes.
- Own vehicle needed: Yes (or willingness to use public transport).
