required to join an existing team providing care & support needs to a 29-year-old young lady who has Cerebral Palsy, scoliosis and dystonia living in her own fully adapted home.
M has a happy and easygoing personality and enjoys music, shopping, fashion, cooking, films, art and creative activities. She attends Chailey Heritage Foundation’s Leisure & Skills Centre.
M requires assistance with all her daily needs.
Full training will be provided to meet M’s individual needs.
Duties include:
Personal grooming
Eating and drinking assistance
Dressing / undressing
Bathroom assistance
Undertake all personal care
Give feed via gastrostomy button
Provide ongoing entertainment and stimulation
Medication preparation & administration
Candidate qualities
must be able to demonstrate experience of supporting someone with complex & physical needs
have experience of using specialist equipment such as overhead ceiling hoist, wheelchair and standing frame
will be able to support M to participate in a range of activities in her home and outside
have ability to speak & understand English to communicate with M, who is non verbal but has her own ways of communicating
reliable, flexible & committed to the role.
Car driver preferred and willing to drive M’s wheelchair accessible vehicle
Additional requirements
Non-smoker preferred or someone willing to refrain from smoking during working hours

Please note, if you are successful in your application for this position, you will be either engaged directly or employed by the individual employer and not by Independent Lives. The role may be offered on an employed or self-employed basis, depending on the suitability and agreement with the employer. If the role is employed, you will be entitled to holiday pay and issued an employment contract.
Hours per week: 2:1 shifts available during daytime shifts at weekends. Sleep in nights available during the week & at weekends ideally 7pm – 7am , but subject to discussion.
Hourly pay rate:
Starting pay rate of £15.00 per hour subject to experience rising after a successful period of probation & training
