About the role and the person

We're looking for a team player who is reliable, computer literate, a good communicator and shows dignity and respect towards others to become a weekend and evening personal assistant (PA). As a PA you'll support a warm, funny, and outgoing young man with physical disabilities, autism and other complex needs, with his personal care needs, going out into the community and at mealtimes. Having interests in or experience with craft projects and social media, including vlogging would be useful but is not essential. Having the ability to work regular evenings and weekends is essential and to spend the occasional week / weekend away for overnight respite. You should also be able to do occasional very late shifts to support attendance of music gigs, wrestling events, comic conventions and other outings of interest in London for example. Flexibility to cover for annual leave / absence of other staff members and to pick up extra hours at short notice would also be highly desirable.

Work location and environment

You will work in the family home in the Haywards Heath area and be part of a team of carers. You must have held a clean and valid driving licence for at least one year and be confident to drive a wheelchair accessible van. Please note the family home has cats.

Pay and induction

The rate of pay will be around £14 per hour and you'll be given a full induction and training when in post. If you're successful, you'll need to provide an enhanced DBS check which will be paid for by the employer.
