I am 25-year-old female looking for a Personal Assistant/Support worker to help me feel more confident and independent. My health needs can change from day to day, so I need flexible support. I would like calm encouragement, practical help, and gentle reminders. It is important that I stay in control of my choices and goals.

I need someone who can:

  • Help me build my confidence and independence.
  • Help me plan simple routines, goals, and activities.
  • Be flexible when my health needs change.
  • Give me gentle reminders about personal care and household tasks.
  • Support me to try activities I may enjoy, such as arts and crafts, quiet outdoor visits, and trips to the beach.
  • Encourage me to make my own choices and put my needs first.
  • Include me in all decisions about my support.
  • Take time to build a trusting relationship with me.
  • Respect that I enjoy meaningful conversations, quiet places, and spending time at home with my cats.

I also have non-epileptic attack disorder, which causes dissociative seizures similar to epileptic seizures. Episodes can be triggered unexpectedly and may range from visible symptoms indicating I am unwell to a seizure, depending on severity. I cannot control when they occur. Allowing symptoms to pass without pressure, offering calm reassurance, and using gentle conversation or distraction help me feel safe and build confidence.

I am looking for someone who is kind, patient, reliable, caring, and non-judgemental. You should understand mental health or having willingness to learn. I need someone who listens, communicates clearly, and respects my privacy and boundaries. You should guide and encourage me without being bossy or controlling. Being flexible, understanding, and consistent is very important.

Duties include:

  • Personal grooming
  • Moving and handling
  • Other relevant duties as required
  • Administration
  • Shopping
  • Cooking
  • Transportation
  • Companionship
  • Develop my confidence to carry out tasks by encouraging/prompting /working alongside me.
  • Respectful of the employer's privacy and confidentiality
  • Reliable with good timekeeping
  • Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
  • Hygienic, tidy and well organised
  • Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
  • Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills
  • Honest and cheerful
  • Creative
  • Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
  • Must be comfortable with pets
  • Able to always work to high standards of health & safety
