Hi, I’m a 20-year-old man with ASD, who’s kind, helpful, and funny. I’m looking for a Personal Assistant / Support Worker who I can genuinely relate to — someone who feels more like a friend while still supporting me to get out and do the things I enjoy.

I’m really into football — I take part in sessions with Brighton & Hove Albion through their community programme, and I enjoy watching Wick play on Sundays too. I like going to the gym, heading out for lunch at cafés, and shopping for food.

I’m also into history, geography and politics, so if you enjoy a good chat about these, we’ll probably get on well. I like visiting places such as Amberley Museum and going for walks around Arundel. If we’re travelling further afield, you’ll need to use your own car.

What matters most to me is having someone who:

  • Shares similar interests (especially sport)
  • Is easy to talk to and has a good sense of humour
  • Takes the time to get to know me properly
  • Supports me to be independent and confident
  • Is reliable and has a driving licence with access to a car

This role is about more than just support — it’s about helping me enjoy life, try new things, and do what other 20-year-olds are doing, with the right person alongside me.

If you’re active, open-minded, and think we’d get along, I’d love to hear from you.

Duties include:

  • Transportation
  • Companionship

Candidate qualities:

  • Respectful of the employer's privacy and confidentiality
  • Reliable with good timekeeping
  • Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
  • Hygienic, tidy and well organised
  • Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
  • Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills
  • Honest and cheerful
  • Creative
  • Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
  • Able to always work to high standards of health & safety

Additional requirements:

  • Non-smoker preferred or someone willing to refrain from smoking during working hours

Notes:

All applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check if required.

If you are successful in your application for this position, you will be either engaged directly or employed by the individual employer and not by Independent Lives. The role may be offered on an employed or self-employed basis, depending on the suitability and agreement with the employer. If the role is employed, you will be entitled to holiday pay and issued an employment contract.

Please note: If you do not hear back within three weeks of applying, unfortunately your application has not been successful on this occasion.
