I am looking to recruit a friendly, compassionate and reliable Personal Assistant to support me with my morning routine and help me remain active and engaged within my local community.
I am a Nigerian gentleman in my early 70s living with dementia. I am looking for someone who is patient, understanding and respectful, and who can provide support in a way that promotes my dignity, independence and overall wellbeing.
The role will involve supporting me with my morning routine, including washing, bathing and dressing. Due to my dementia, I am unable to independently manage certain tasks, such as turning taps on and regulating the water temperature. I will therefore need someone who can provide practical assistance to ensure the water is at a safe and comfortable temperature, while maintaining my privacy and dignity throughout personal care.
I will also need support with preparing and having breakfast, as well as ensuring I have regular access to drinks to maintain good nutrition and hydration.
An important part of the role will be supporting me to access the local community and participate in social activities. This will include accompanying me to Age Concern/Age UK and other local community groups, giving me opportunities to meet people, socialise and maintain meaningful connections with others.
It is important that the person employed has an understanding of, and sensitivity towards, my cultural background as a Nigerian man. I would welcome someone who is culturally aware, respectful and appreciates the importance of recognising my individual identity, preferences and values.
I am looking for someone who is kind, patient, reliable and compassionate, ideally with experience of supporting people living with dementia or a willingness to develop their knowledge and understanding. Most importantly, I would like someone who enjoys building positive relationships and is committed to helping me maintain my independence and quality of life.
This is a rewarding opportunity for the right person to make a genuine difference to someone's daily life by providing meaningful, person-centred support.
