I have a wonderful primary live-in carer who provides my main support.
I'm seeking a live-in carer to cover the periods when my primary carer is taking a break.
This is typically for one week per month (although is flexible, to be agreed between yourself & the primary carer).
A full care plan is in place & can be discussed in more detail upon application.
However, I typically wake at 7am & sleep from 9pm & require assistance with everything from eating, personal hygiene, dressing, medication, etc. between those hours.
I may on occasion, if unwell, need toileting assistance in the night.
A daily 2 hour break is covered by a "break carer" most days.
Some days I enjoy chatting and discussing what is happening in the world, while other days I prefer to rest quietly.
I am therefore looking for someone who is personable and enjoys conversation but is equally happy providing calm companionship.
Experience supporting someone with Parkinson's Disease & Crohn's Disease, or at least restricted mobility & diet, is preferable.
If you are warm, reliable and enjoy making a difference to someone's life, we would love to hear from you.
Duties include:
- Medication prompting/administering
- Personal grooming
- Eating and drinking assistance
- Moving and handling
- Other relevant duties as required
- Respectful of the employer's privacy and confidentiality
- Reliable with good timekeeping
- Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
- Hygienic, tidy and well organised
- Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
- Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills
- Honest and cheerful
- Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
- Able to always work to high standards of health & safety
Additional requirements
- Non-smoker preferred or someone willing to refrain from smoking during working hours
Notes:
- All applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check if required.
- If the role is offered on a self-employed basis, you will be responsible for the cost of your own DBS check.
