We have partnered with an exciting VR and Mobile Games studio based in Manchester, who require a Technical Artist to help build a range of narrative experiences and work on a new mobile title. You will be working on a series of character-driven, hyper-realistic experiences, collaborating closely with the Creative Director, Programming, and Animation teams.

As the Technical Artist, you will:

  • Bridge the gap between artists and engineers, ensuring an efficient art pipeline and optimised games.
  • Assist with animation, rigging, tools, shaders, runtime performance, and production constraints.
  • Focus heavily on Characters in the experiences, ensuring they look and feel realistic for the players.

The studio consists of around 25 people and the title is early in development, giving you the opportunity to make an impact early on. You will have the chance to showcase your skills and wear multiple hats. In addition to a great work-life balance, the studio offers perks such as an amazing pension, Cycle to work schemes, and a generous holiday package which includes studio closures over Christmas.

This role can be either Hybrid or Remote working (from the UK), with at least once a month trips to Manchester City Centre. You must be based in and eligible to work in the UK to apply for this role.

Salary Range: £40,000 – £65,000

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years as a Technical Artist.
  • Past experience in either Video Games, Animation, or VR.
  • Experience working closely with Realtime Characters in interactive experiences.
  • Experience with Unity.
  • Strong experience with character rigs and controllers.
  • Proficiency in Python/MEL/MaxScript, C# editor tooling, or similar for pipeline automation.
  • Proficiency in Maya.
  • Experience with Sports Titles would be a bonus.
  • Massively beneficial if you are a fan of football and other sports.
