We have a new opportunity to join our Production Team.
Independent Forgings and Alloys Ltd (IFA) sits uniquely as the only single sited forge with open-die radial, press, hammer & ring rolling and closed-die extrusion, drop stamp and blade forging in the world. Over the last few years we have invested in the business and have successfully doubled our turnover. We are looking to continue this growth and are looking to add to our established team.
Key Accountabilities
- Safely use plant including, cranes, forklift trucks and saws.
- Carry out daily checks on equipment in line with IFA procedures before using at the start of your shift.
- Arrive at a plan for each machine in line with customer / planning requirements to fulfil customer requirements.
- Optimise saw blade usage and change saw blades as needed informing the manager when replenishment needed.
- Locate material and check in line with cutting sheet / works order that the correct material is used / marked up, flagging up any issues before cutting.
- Weigh bars before cutting and calculate the cutting weight / length.
- Clearly mark uses in line with IFA procedures, unless route card advises no markings.
- Weigh uses in line with IFA procedures.
- Complete paperwork on the completion of the job, giving information on how the material has been used, returned to stock or scrapped.
- Mark material been put back to stock, with weight, cast, grade where applicable.
- Store bars / uses safely within the shop, moving outside should the need occur to keep the shop as a safe working environment.
- Report any safety issues as soon as noticed, maintaining any basic maintenance as directed.
- Swarf from machines should regularly be removed from the saws and segregated into different grades.

- Working knowledge of the safe operation of automatic saws
- Overhead pendant crane licence and experience
- FLT licence and experience
