Independent Forgings and Alloys Ltd (IFA) are continuing to invest and grow, and we are looking to add to our logistics team. We are now looking for an experienced Stockyard Operative with experience working in a metals manufacturing environment.
Main Purpose of the Role
Working as part of the Logistics Department, you’ll be responsible for loading/unloading materials to support the production teams and check all paperwork/documentation is correct. Locating and providing production teams with the material required to manufacturing plans.
Main duties of the role include:
- Unload and load vehicles within both stockyards for production, checking the material against the paperwork.
- Check material and weigh ingots/bars on arrival – writing the weight on the material.
- Complete paperwork, informing Hire Work, Stock control and Subcon for all deliveries.
- Keep stockyard(s) tidy and safe, removing banding and packaging from deliveries.
- Deliver RAW material from both stockyard(s) to both SAW shops when required.
- Remove cut material from the SAW shop.
- Locate material within the stockyard for use within the forge (Charges), then deliver to the forge.
- Complete daily operations and complete daily plan adherence (Weigh/Pack ops).
- Pack, load and unload subcon goods.
- Collect scrap material from multiple departments across site.
- Sort, pallet and wrap scrap ready for collection.
- Weigh scrap and move to the correct location.
Working hours: Mon - Fri 07:45 - 16:00 with a 15:30 finish on Fridays.
Your background should include:
- Experience working within a steel manufacturing environment.
- Overhead pendant crane licence and experience.
- FLT licence and experience.
- Loading and Unloading steel bars/Ingots.
