At Independent Forgings and Alloys (IFA), we’re proud to be one of the UK’s independent aerospace and industrial forgers. We’re now looking for talented Skilled Machinists to join our growing team. This role is created through our ongoing investment and growth in the business which has seen us double our turnover in the last few years.
As a Skilled Machinist at IFA, you’ll work with precision and pride:
- Setting up and running machines working accurately to customer requirements.
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings with confidence.
- Inspecting and checking components to ensure the highest quality standards.
- Maintaining your workstation within the principles of 5S.
- Running two machines in tandem where possible, boosting both efficiency and skill.
- Following and helping to improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
What are we looking for? You’ll bring proven skill and confidence to the role — a fully trained machinist who can work independently, take initiative, and deliver accuracy at every stage of the process. From safe work handling to maintaining the highest standards of health and safety, you take ownership and pride in your craft. With a recognised Craft Apprenticeship, you’ll have the technical expertise to:
- Use precision measuring equipment with accuracy.
- Read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
- Programme, set, and operate CNC lathes and vertical borers.
More about IFA: We manufacture high-integrity, open-die and closed-die forged components in nickel alloy, titanium, stainless steel and carbon alloys for customers and tier-one suppliers within the aerospace, nuclear, power generation, marine as well as oil and gas sector. We are unique due to the combination of open and closed-die forging while also undertaking the whole production process from raw material to the finished product in one location.
