The Independent Doctors Federation (IDrF) is the UK's leading membership organisation for doctors working in private practice, supporting over 1700 clinicians across a wide range of specialties. Our work directly supports patient safety, professional standards and the smooth running of appraisal and revalidation for independent doctors. We're a small, collaborative organisation that values curiosity, accountability and continuous learning. People who thrive here enjoy understanding the 'why', improving systems, and taking ownership of their work.

The Senior Appraisal and Revalidation Administrator plays a key role in the day‑to‑day running of our appraisal and revalidation function. This is not a purely transactional admin role. You’ll act as a trusted operational lead within the team, supporting administrators, overseeing workflows, quality‑checking records, and acting as a knowledgeable point of escalation for both colleagues and members.

You’ll develop and maintain a strong working understanding of appraisal and revalidation processes, systems and regulatory requirements, and you’ll be expected to learn independently, apply judgement, and proactively identify issues before they become problems.

What you'll be doing:

  • Acting as the first escalation point for routine appraisal and revalidation queries
  • Monitoring member progress, identifying risks, gaps or delays and taking action
  • Providing clear, confident guidance to members on appraisal and revalidation requirements
  • Coordinating daily workflows and supporting the Appraisal & Revalidation Manager
  • Quality‑assuring member records across related systems
  • Running regular system and timeline checks to ensure alignment and accuracy
  • Producing first‑stage summaries for reporting, dashboards and oversight
  • Supporting statutory processes

What we're looking for:

You’ll be someone who is comfortable working with complexity, takes pride in accuracy, and enjoys developing expertise.

Essential experience and skills:

  • Strong administrative background in a complex or regulated environment
  • Confident written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience managing multiple systems and prioritising competing tasks
  • Excellent attention to detail and respect for confidentiality (GDPR awareness essential)
  • Confidence in making decisions within defined frameworks

Just as important:

  • A proactive approach to independent learning, you actively seek to understand processes, regulations and systems rather than waiting to be told
  • The ability to spot patterns, risks or inconsistencies and raise them constructively
  • A calm, supportive approach when dealing with members and colleagues
  • Enjoyment in helping others learn and work more effectively

Why join?

  • Purpose driven work that directly supports patient safety and professional standards
  • A collaborative team where your expertise and ideas are valued
  • Real scope to develop deep knowledge in appraisal and revalidation
  • Hybrid working and a supportive, learning‑focused culture
