The Role
We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Yard Operative / HGV Class 2 HIAB Relief Driver to join our team.
This is a varied position where you'll support the day-to-day running of the yard while also providing delivery cover when required. You'll play a key role in ensuring customers receive excellent service both in branch and on site.
Key Responsibilities
Yard Duties
- Picking and preparing customer orders accurately
- Loading and unloading customer and supplier vehicles
- Maintaining a safe, clean and organised yard
- Assisting with stock control and goods-in procedures
- Serving and assisting customers in the yard
- Operating a forklift truck (training provided if required)
Driving Duties
- Delivering building materials safely and efficiently
- Operating HIAB equipment where licensed
- Completing daily vehicle checks and paperwork
- Ensuring deliveries are made on time
- Providing excellent customer service at every delivery point
- Following all transport, safety and compliance procedures
Skills & Experience Required
- Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) Licence
- CPC Qualification Card and Digital Tachograph Card
- HIAB Licence preferred (training may be available for the right candidate)
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work safely in a busy yard environment
- Team player with a positive attitude
- Good level of physical fitness for manual handling duties
- Forklift experience desirable but not essential
- Builders merchant experience advantageous but not essential
Hours
Week:1 Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 5:00pm
Week:2 Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 5:00pm Saturday from 8:00am to 12:00pm.
