We're looking for an Internal Sales Assistant to join our friendly and successful team in Reading. This customer-focused role is all about supporting customers, processing orders, preparing quotations and helping the branch deliver a smooth and professional service every day.
Whether you already have experience within a builders’ merchant environment or bring strong customer service and sales support skills from another sector, we'd love to hear from you.
What You'll Be Doing
Internal Sales & Customer Service
- Building positive relationships with customers in person, over the phone and via email
- Processing customer orders, quotations, enquiries and returns accurately and efficiently
- Providing helpful advice on products, pricing, availability and delivery options
- Following up quotations and identifying opportunities to support customer needs
- Supporting account managers, branch colleagues and the wider sales team
- Maintaining accurate customer records and helping with general branch administration
- Contributing to excellent customer service and helping the branch achieve its objectives
What We're Looking For
We're more interested in your attitude, customer focus and willingness to learn than ticking every box.
- Experience in a customer service, sales, administration, builders' merchant or construction-related environment
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- A confident and professional telephone manner
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- A positive, team-oriented approach
- Confidence using computer systems and handling customer enquiries
- A willingness to learn new skills and develop product knowledge
Desirable but not essential:
- Builders' merchant or construction product knowledge
- Previous experience in an internal sales or trade counter role
Working Hours
Week 1
- Monday to Friday: 7:30am – 5:15pm
Week 2
- Monday to Friday: 7:30am – 5:15pm
- Saturday: 8:00am – 12:00pm
