Join our team at Chandlers Building Supplies, a respected independent builder’s merchant serving the Southeast since 1993. With a commitment to quality products and exceptional customer service, we are part of the Independent Builders Merchant Group (IBMG), the largest independent merchant group in the South of England. We’re expanding our team at our Thanet Branch and are looking for a dependable Van Driver / Relief HGV Driver / Yard Operative to help us continue delivering excellent service to our trade and retail customers.
The Role
We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Van Driver / Relief HGV Driver / Yard Operative to join our busy builders merchants team at Thanet. This role is primarily focused on van deliveries, with additional yard duties and relief HGV Class 2 driving when required.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Carry out deliveries using a company van (approx. 90% of the role)
- Provide relief cover as an HGV Class 2 driver (26T) during holidays and sickness (approx. 12 weeks per year)
- Ensure all deliveries are completed safely, efficiently, and on time
- Conduct daily vehicle checks and report any defects
- Load, secure, and unload materials in line with safety standards
Yard Duties
- Assist in the yard with loading and unloading vehicles
- Maintain stock organisation and yard cleanliness
Qualifications and Attributes
- Full UK Driving Licence (essential)
- HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence
- CPC and Digital Tachograph Card
- Flexible and willing to provide relief HGV driving cover
- Strong team player with a positive attitude
- Previous experience in a similar role is beneficial

Week 1: Monday - Friday 07:30-17:00
Week 2: Monday - Friday 07:30 - 17:00 & Saturday 08:00 - 12:00
