The HGV Driver (Class 2) – Regional Support provides flexible driving support across multiple branches within a designated region. While assigned to Godstone Taylors Hill Branch, the role requires regular travel to other branches to provide cover during periods of absence, holiday, sickness or increased operational demand. The role requires a highly adaptable, safety‑focused and customer‑oriented driver who can quickly integrate into different branch operations, routes and customer environments. The driver will ensure deliveries are completed safely, efficiently and in line with company procedures, maintaining high standards of compliance, professionalism and customer service. When not deployed on regional cover, the driver will support the home branch with delivery operations and contribute to maintaining high safety standards by sharing best practice with colleagues.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Valid HGV Class 2 Licence
  • Valid CPC qualification and Driver Tachograph Card
  • Valid HIAB / Lorry Mounted Crane Certificate
  • Grab lorry mounted crane licence
  • Forklift licence preferred, with training available if not already held
  • Proficiency in Maths and English
  • Working knowledge of transport legislation, tachograph regulations and driver compliance requirements
  • Experience operating heavy goods vehicles in a delivery environment
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel across branches within the region
  • Willingness to undertake yard or van driving duties where required.

Main Accountabilities and Responsibilities

Driving & Delivery Operations

  • Conduct daily vehicle checks and defect inspections, ensuring any issues are reported promptly and resolved in line with company procedures.
  • Quickly adapt to different branch layouts, teams, routes and delivery processes while maintaining consistent performance standards.
  • Operate independently within unfamiliar branch environments while maintaining safe and efficient working practices.
  • Support branches in maintaining delivery continuity and customer service standards.

Documentation & Administration

  • Complete all delivery documentation, defect reports and tachograph records accurately and on time.
  • Ensure delivery notes and related documentation are completed correctly to support operational accuracy and customer service.
  • Maintain clear communication with branch teams regarding deliveries, routes and operational issues.

Vehicle & Equipment Care

  • Maintain company vehicles and equipment in a clean, safe and roadworthy condition.
  • Promptly report vehicle defects, damage or operational concerns.
  • Ensure safe and responsible use of all company vehicles, lifting equipment and handling machinery.

Customer & Team Support

  • Represent the business professionally when interacting with customers across multiple branch locations.
  • Maintain a courteous and helpful approach when delivering to customer sites.
  • Build positive working relationships with colleagues across branches.
  • Provide informal guidance and support to other drivers to promote safe driving practices and consistent service standards.
