Waste Operative
Indaver is at the forefront of sustainable waste management in Europe, providing high-quality, cost-effective solutions in municipal, industrial, and hazardous waste sectors. Operating across Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Portugal, the UK, and Ireland, we specialize in Total Waste Management and Waste-to-Energy solutions.
We are currently constructing the Rivenhall Facility in Essex, a state-of-the-art plant that will process approximately 595,000 tonnes of residual waste per year, generating electricity to power the equivalant of 60,000 homes .
To support this exciting project, we are looking to hire around 65 skilled professionals to operate and maintain this large-scale facility. The Waste Operative operates as part of the Waste Operations Team and is responsible for all waste and residue-related operational processing activities required to operate the Rivenhall facility in a safe, efficient and compliant manner. We need x 8 Waste Operatives.

Role and Responsibilities
- 12-hour day shifts over a 40-hour week, with some weekend work required
- Work flexibly across the Waste Operations Teams to deliver operational excellence across all waste and residue operations.
- Coordination of all waste operation processes within the facility, and the maintenance of the waste reception and residue disposal facilities in a clean and tidy manner at all times
- Processing of waste delivery and residue disposal activities in line with facility requirements and with customers and residue disposal contractor schedules
- Cooperation with and support of the Production and Maintenance Teams during operations and/or maintenance activities
- Flexibility to operate across all areas of waste receipt and residue disposal operations following the planned shift rotas, and provide additional support during times of unusual activity or production disturbances
- Always be on the lookout for alternative ways of doing things, that make operations safer, improve quality, efficiency etc.
Qualifications and Experience required
- GCSE educated
- Preferably educated, in a logistics or waste management-related area of study but applicable experience will be acceptable in place of qualifications
- Must demonstrate strong customer service skills
- Experience operating the following mobile plant: Forklift; Telehandler; Front Loader; Bobcat Skid Steer etc., ideally in Industrial, Agricultural, Warehouse, Construction etc. type environments.
- Machinery operations licenses will be advantageous, but not essential as training will be provided
- Experience with crane operation would be beneficial but not essential
- Must be IT Literate
- Must have own transport, due to the location of the plant and lack of public transport
- Must be eligible to work in the UK (full-time). No visa sponsorship will be offered.
