Indaver is at the forefront of sustainable waste management in Europe, providing high-quality, cost-effective solutions in municipal, industrial, and hazardous waste sectors. Operating across Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Portugal, the UK, and Ireland, we specialize in Total Waste Management and Waste-to-Energy solutions. This position is based at our Rivenhall Facility in Essex, a state-of-the-art plant that processes approximately 595,000 tonnes of residual waste per year, generating electricity to power around 60,000 homes.
The Deputy Shift Team Leader operates within a 5-shift rota system, and in conjunction with the Shift Team Leader, is responsible for all production and operational coordination activities required to operate the Rivenhall facility in a safe, efficient and compliant manner. They will also be responsible for the creation and maintenance of a safe working environment for anyone working within the Rivenhall facility, in accordance with the Mechanical & Electrical Safety Rules.
Role and Responsibilities
- Identification, design, implementation and management of Process and Operational Safety Plans
- Operation of the facility using best Indaver/Industry practices in compliance with all relevant environmental, legal, licence and internal norms
- Leading, developing and motivating the Shift Team in conjunction with the Shift Team Leader to deliver operational excellence across all facility operations
- Development and succession planning of shift personnel within the team, in conjunction with the Shift Team Leader
- Coordination of all production and material handling processes within the facility, and the maintenance of the facility in a clean and tidy manner at all times, whilst operating on a 24 hour/365 days per year basis
- Identification and scope determination of operational improvement projects that simplify, standardise or improve the operability and/or compliance of the facility
- Unrelenting focus on continuous improvement of the facility and the people who work within it
Experience and Qualifications
- Ideally HNC/HND educated, in a technical or process related area of study but significant applicable experience will be acceptable in lieu of qualifications
- Proven operational shift experience within a power generation or continuous process industry
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
- Some people management experience is desirable, but not essential as appropriate management training will be provided
- Knowledge and experience within a High Temperature Continuous Process (metallurgy, power generation, cement industry, petrochemicals)
