We are currently recruiting a qualified Gas Engineer to join our team, responsible for all aspects of gas including installation, repairs, servicing and inspections.

Duties include

  • Carry out Landlord\’s Gas Safety Inspections, Day to Day repairs, Installation & Servicing of domestic gas appliances in tenanted and void properties either owned or managed by Incommunities
  • Provide Out of Hours coverage on a rota basis (if contracted to do so) to maintain an out of hours breakdown service to our customers
  • Carry out Domestic Gas Servicing and Responsive Repairs /installation and all other elements of \”gas work\” either as an individual working on their own initiative or undertaking these activities and duties as a member of a specialist/contract team
  • Work on your own initiative and plan your daily work in the most efficient and effective way with supervision and guidance provided by the Senior Gas Repairs Manager and Senior Gas Service Manager
  • To effectively communicate with customers to explain the correct operation of gas appliances and the importance of regularly servicing gas appliances
  • Be sufficiently competent to carry out all general gas works, completing landlord\’s certificates, gas appliance installations, be competent in fault diagnosis and repair of modern and traditional boilers and be able to carry out repairs to central heating systems, including fitting new pumps, motorised valves, radiators and adapting pipework as necessary
  • Be expected to return a high percentage of 1st time fixes, carry out tasks to the required standard with minimum supervision.
  • Regular monitoring of first-time fix and call back rates will be in place to ensure standards and service levels are maintained
  • Have the ability to work to deadlines and timescales and liaise with managers and customers regarding changes to schedules or appointments
  • Identify and order the correct parts and escrote works as required. If issued with van stock will be responsible for maintaining stock levels adequate to complete the works without incurring repeat visits

Requirements

  • Gas safe registered and have an ACS Qualification with elements CCN1,CENWAT,CKR1,HTR1
  • Have a good mechanical aptitude and fault-finding skills and demonstrate a willingness to update yourself with technical innovation and changes as they occur within the industry.
  • You must be well presented and display a personable manner and display good verbal and written communication skills
  • You will be required to use a PDA/Smart Phone unit to manage your work
  • You will be expected to carry out the allocated tasks to the highest level of skill in the appropriate specialism
  • Required to display initiative with regards to prioritisation of workload, ordering parts and escalation of further works.
  • You must be able to communicate and deal effectively with the public/customer in a courteous manner
  • Right to work in the UK, visa sponsorship is not available.
  • A basic DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check will be required for the successful candidate as part of the pre-employment process – Criminal Conviction Checks
