We are currently recruiting a Domestic Abuse Coordinator (18.5 hours) to join us on a permanent basis. You will works closely with various partner agencies, such as domestic abuse charities and social services, to facilitate a collaborative response to domestic abuse. As Incommunities Domestic Abuse Coordinator, you will play an important part in raising awareness of domestic abuse issues within the community.

Hours: Wednesday afternoon, Thursday & Friday full days.

Duties include:

  • Manage and oversee the reporting of domestic abuse concerns raised by customers, colleagues and partner agencies
  • Support Neighbourhood Housing Officers in investigating incidents of domestic abuse
  • Provide specialist advice and guidance
  • Refer survivors of domestic abuse to specialist providers of advice, advocacy and support services
  • Refer survivors to emergency accommodation providers
  • Make referrals to statutory services for purposes of support
  • Support colleagues to challenge statutory service response to concerns
  • Raise domestic abuse awareness in the organisation
  • Identify domestic abuse training and skills gaps in the organisation
  • Review and develop domestic abuse training programmes
  • Periodically review policy and procedure in line with legal frameworks, regulatory requirements and best practice.
  • Monitor and review cases to ensure consistent delivery of support across the organisation
  • Prepare and present domestic abuse performance reports to Strategic Safeguarding Group
  • Attend MARAC, DASAV groups, safeguarding and other professionals\’ meetings
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with key stakeholders including local authorities, the police and social services
  • Awareness and application of the Domestic Abuse Act 2021
  • Knowledge of complexities of Domestic Abuse
  • Knowledge of challenges faced by survivors of domestic abuse
  • Knowledge and application of legal remedies available to survivors of domestic abuse
  • Knowledge and application of housing management options available to survivors of domestic abuse
  • Knowledge of statutory provision in relation to child protection, safeguarding children, vulnerable adults and domestic abuse.
  • Knowledge of practical and emotional support available for survivors of domestic abuse in the district
