We are recruiting a Seasonal Grounds Maintenance Operative to join us until 25th September 2026. If you love the outdoors whether it's rain or shine, then this could be the role for you! You'll carry out a wide range of grounds maintenance tasks using various equipment, including grass cutting, shrub bed works and site clearance works. You will be provided with all the necessary support, PPE and equipment to carry out your role safely and effectively. In return, you will receive IOSH Accredited training and a certificate!
This role is 45 hours per week, 07:30 - 17:00 Monday to Friday, with a contract until 25th September 2026.
Where are we based? Hillam Road, BD2 1QN, 5 minute walk from Canal Rd Midland Terrace Bus Stop, 15 minute walk from Frizinghall Train Station. On street parking available.
Duties include:
- Deliver a grounds maintenance service based on customer involvement, satisfaction and sustainability.
- Work as part of a team to maintain all Incommunities spaces to a high standard of appearance and safety.
- Carry out a wide range of grounds maintenance tasks including grass cutting, shrub bed works and site clearance works.
- Comfortable using heavy equipment and carrying this to and from the van.
You will be a star performer if you:
- Have basic grounds maintenance knowledge or the willingness to learn.
- Have previously used tools such as mowers, strimmers, hedge trimmers and back pack blowers.
- Are an excellent team player with good communication skills.
- Are self-motivated, respectful, trustworthy and punctual.
- Have practical experience in a horticultural or arboriculture role and/or a qualification in this area.
- A full UK manual driving license is not essential but would be advantageous.
- Have the ability to follow verbal and written instructions and complete relevant paperwork.
- Have at least 2 suitable references.
- Have the willingness to work outdoors in all weathers and on all ground terrain types.
- Have a general awareness of Health and Safety including safe site working practice.
- Have a good work ethic and customer service skills to interact with our customers who may on occasion approach the grounds team with queries.
- Have the right to work in the UK - Visa Sponsorship is not available.
- A basic DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check will be required for the successful candidate as part of the pre-employment process.
Salary: £31,602 per year for 45hrs (pro rata as seasonal).
