At Wellington IT we provide the most successful range of Credit Union software in Northern Ireland/Ireland, currently moving billions each year and managing funds for more than 1 in 4 people. Our customers use our software to power every aspect of their financial services business from savings and loans, through to business intelligence, online banking, mobile apps, debit card services and ATMs.
Wellington IT is part of Volaris, an operating group of Constellation Software Inc, a large corporate business based in Canada. Volaris acquires and strengthens companies within the markets they compete, enabling them to grow – whether that growth comes through organic measures such as new initiatives and product development, day-to-day business, or through complementary acquisitions. Our people are at the heart of everything we do, Wellington IT offers fantastic learning programs, career growth opportunities, and a culture that’s all about continuous improvement.
As a Software Engineer at Wellington IT, you'll play a hands-on role in delivering and improving our mobile application — a product that credit union members across Ireland and the UK rely on daily. Working within a small, collaborative engineering team, you'll contribute across the full stack with a strong emphasis on front-end quality, performance, and accessibility, while supporting backend integration and overall system reliability.
Key Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):
- Delivery: Design and implement features end-to-end — UI, API, and data layer as relevant — with appropriate tests, telemetry, and documentation. Take stories from refinement to production confidently, estimating and communicating progress and blockers clearly. Own third-line investigations and bug fixes, ensuring timely resolution and system reliability.
- Engineering Standards: Produce and maintain technical documentation to support the software lifecycle. Adhere to coding standards and collaborate closely with QA to align software design with testing strategy. Contribute to knowledge sharing across the team — surfacing learnings, patterns, and approaches that raise the collective bar.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Product, QA, and stakeholders to interpret requirements and deliver aligned solutions. Participate in code reviews, agile ceremonies, and continuous improvement of team practices. Provide support to Networks, Customer Care, and Professional Services teams where integration or operational context is needed.
