We’re working with a well-established engineering business to recruit an experienced Proposals Engineer to take ownership of the full bid development process for complex automation and control systems projects. This is a genuinely varied and technically interesting role where you’ll combine engineering expertise, commercial awareness, and proposal delivery to win high-value work across industrial sectors.
The Role
- You’ll be responsible for developing solutions from first principles — interpreting client specifications, producing high-quality tender submissions, and ensuring proposals are both technically robust and commercially competitive.
- Working across technologies such as PLC, SCADA, DCS, and industrial networks, you’ll play a key role in securing projects across sectors, including energy, manufacturing, and process industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret client specifications and develop compliant technical solutions
- Produce high-quality tender submissions (technical + commercial)
- Develop cost estimates, BoMs, and engineering hour projections
- Create conceptual designs including control systems, networks and infrastructure
- Support pre- and post-tender discussions with internal stakeholders and clients
- Coordinate inputs from engineering, supply chain and subcontractors
- Manage multiple bids simultaneously to tight deadlines
What We’re Looking For
Experience & Knowledge
- Background in controls, automation, electrical or systems engineering
- Understanding of the full project lifecycle
- Ability to interpret technical specifications and define solutions
- Experience with costing, estimating or BoMs (highly desirable)
- Knowledge of functional safety or control systems architecture advantageous

- Commercial awareness and attention to detail
