Inclusive Consulting is partnering with a charity based in West Yorkshire to recruit a permanent Group Financial Accountant. The role offers hybrid working and an excellent employee benefits package. This role would be ideal for someone who enjoys a broad technical remit, thrives on driving improvements, and is motivated by meaningful work. Based in West Yorkshire, it's commutable from Castleford, Knottingley, Pontefract, Wakefield, Sherburn in Elmet, Garforth, Selby, Featherstone, Barnsley, Leeds, and the surrounding areas.
Role Responsibilities
- Manage and develop a small accounting team, supporting their growth and day-to-day activity.
- Implement and maintain robust financial controls, driving best practice across the function.
- Prepare accurate financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead on group consolidation and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Produce quarterly VAT returns and act as an internal point of expertise on VAT matters.
- Review monthly balance sheet reconciliations and support audit and year-end processes, including preparation of disclosure notes and supporting schedules.
- Ensure compliance with charity accounting legislation, general accounting standards, and all relevant company and charity law.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support the wider goals of the organisation.
- Lead or support financial systems and reporting improvement projects as appropriate.
Person Specification / Qualifications
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Strong technical accounting background with confidence managing financial reporting.
- Previous experience managing or developing a small team is desirable.
- A collaborative, solutions-focused approach with a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Clear communicator with the ability to explain financial matters to non-finance colleagues.
- Proactive, hands-on, and adaptable to the evolving needs of the charity.
