This is a 8 PA NHS Consultant Post in Community Sexual and Reproductive Health. The post holder will be employed by Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (MPFT). The post will be based within the Stafford and Branston sexual health services.
We are seeking to recruit a Consultant who demonstrates experience of leadership in SRH as well as a wide experience in all aspects of CASH and GUM. Strong team-working skills and a keen interest in training, education and service development are essential.
Main duties of the jobThe Consultant will act as the Contraception Lead for the services and provide high quality evidence-based holistic care for patients with sexual health needs incorporating both contraception and GU medicine. The post-holder will be required to play a leadership role within the sexual health teams. There will be a significant commitment to teaching, including CoSRH training, and supervision of junior medical and nursing staff. Active contribution to audit and clinical governance will also be expected.
Job responsibilities- Counselling on all aspects of contraception and prescribing of appropriate contraception
- Providing advice on and prescribing of emergency contraception
- Promotion of long-acting reversible contraception (LARC)
- Fitting and removal of LARC methods as appropriate
- Provision of expert clinical practice in contraception
- Provision of expertise in complex LARC (including ultrasound)
- Discussion of TOP and appropriate referral
- Diagnosis, treatment and contact tracing of sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
- Regular review of laboratory results
- Counselling on all aspects of STIs for patients and their partners
- Sexual health promotion
- To work with colleagues in other specialties for the benefit of patients
- To contribute actively to MDTs
Qualifications
CCT in CSRH or equivalent and entry on Specialist Register, or eligibility within 6 months of prospective interview date
College Registered Trainer (or meets eligibility criteria)
Experience
Ability to demonstrate the positive application of our Trust's core behaviours
Evidence of participation in clinical audit and understanding the role of audit in improving medical practice
Experience of providing undergraduate and / or post graduate medical teaching
