You will be a qualified RMN and working within NMC Code of Practice and Professional guidelines.
You will be confident in managing a caseload of clients with complex care mental health difficulties whilst assessing everyone's care needs in order to develop, implement and evaluate programs of care.
You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary and fully integrated Mental Health and Substance Misuse service. Interventions are offered in line with a stepped care model with a single point of access for prisoners experiencing mental health or substance misuse difficulties.
You will be required to support student nurses on placement.
You will provide high quality clinical service to the prison population whilst having the support you require to deliver this standard of care
You’ll have a flexible approach working within a team but also be able to work autonomously
Show initiative when it comes to handling a wide range of situations which at times can be challenging and unpredictable
Be open and forthcoming with new ideas and approaches to the working environment in order to improve service care delivery, keeping innovation at the forefront of what we do.
You will need a sound knowledge of The Mental Health Act and its application to sentenced and remand prisoners.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
• To be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidenced based interventions required including health promotion within a prison environment.
• To provide a nursing service to prisoners taking account of cultural and spiritual beliefs/needs.
• To be responsible for the appropriate risk assessment of service users, providing effective advice, guidance and decision-making process.
• Responsible for coordinating the care and assessment under the care coordination approach.
• To ensure a high standard of nursing in the application of clinical nursing procedures and treatment including the custody storage and administration of drugs.
• Responsible for participating in the setting of quality standards, including auditing, monitoring and reviewing of clinical practice in line with current clinical guidance practice and policy.
