To support their recent growth, they are now seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable Health & Safety Officer to work with the management team and oversee H&S across their large site in Dungannon.

The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Health & Safety professional who thrives in a hands-on, operational environment. Managing daily risks within a fast-paced, multi-site framework, the successful candidate will work closely with site management, supervisors, and floor teams to ensure legal compliance, reduce risk, and champion a positive safety culture across the organisation.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the following

  • Audits & Inspections: Conduct regular workplace inspections, comprehensive audits, and risk assessments across chilled production, cold storage, and warehousing environments to consistently maintain high standards.

  • Compliance & Standardisation: Ensure full compliance with statutory regulations, H&S legislation, and food industry standards. Drive the standardisation of safety documentation, contractor controls, and permit-to-work systems across all locations.

  • Incident Investigation: Lead thorough investigations into any workplace incidents, accidents, or near-misses. Analyse root causes, maintain accurate safety records, and compile detailed reports with actionable preventative measures.

  • Policy & Emergency Preparedness: Maintain, review, and update health and safety policies, safe systems of work (SSOW), and emergency response plans (including fire safety and first aid provisions) to ensure total readiness.

  • Training & Development: Design, deliver, and coordinate health and safety training modules, toolbox talks, and general inductions. Manage and maintain the company training matrix to ensure total training compliance.

  • Performance Tracking: Monitor safety metrics, review KPIs, and present clear, data-driven performance reports to the Group Health & Safety Manager to help shape future safety strategies.

  • Operational Support: Oversee the correct use, availability, and maintenance of PPE and safety equipment across the site, alongside other duties required to support the position.

The Person

  • 2 to 5 years experience of Health & Safety experience, ideally gained within a food manufacturing, cold storage, or fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) warehousing environment.

  • NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent Health & Safety qualification as a minimum requirement.

  • Solid understanding of the specific workplace hazards associated with food production and large-scale logistics

  • Confident interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build relationships, influence positive behaviours, and communicate safety expectations clearly to both floor staff and senior leadership.

  • Proactive, organized, and flexible to undertake occasional travel to other operational sites across the island of Ireland (NI & ROI) as required.
