To support their recent growth, they are now seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable Health & Safety Officer to work with the management team and oversee H&S across their large site in Dungannon.
The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Health & Safety professional who thrives in a hands-on, operational environment. Managing daily risks within a fast-paced, multi-site framework, the successful candidate will work closely with site management, supervisors, and floor teams to ensure legal compliance, reduce risk, and champion a positive safety culture across the organisation.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the following
Culture & Engagement: Promote a proactive health and safety culture across all sites, ensuring all levels of staff are engaged, coached, and held accountable for safe workplace practices.
Audits & Inspections: Conduct regular workplace inspections, comprehensive audits, and risk assessments across chilled production, cold storage, and warehousing environments to consistently maintain high standards.
Compliance & Standardisation: Ensure full compliance with statutory regulations, H&S legislation, and food industry standards. Drive the standardisation of safety documentation, contractor controls, and permit-to-work systems across all locations.
Incident Investigation: Lead thorough investigations into any workplace incidents, accidents, or near-misses. Analyse root causes, maintain accurate safety records, and compile detailed reports with actionable preventative measures.
Policy & Emergency Preparedness: Maintain, review, and update health and safety policies, safe systems of work (SSOW), and emergency response plans (including fire safety and first aid provisions) to ensure total readiness.
Training & Development: Design, deliver, and coordinate health and safety training modules, toolbox talks, and general inductions. Manage and maintain the company training matrix to ensure total training compliance.
Performance Tracking: Monitor safety metrics, review KPIs, and present clear, data-driven performance reports to the Group Health & Safety Manager to help shape future safety strategies.
Operational Support: Oversee the correct use, availability, and maintenance of PPE and safety equipment across the site, alongside other duties required to support the position.
The Person
2 to 5 years experience of Health & Safety experience, ideally gained within a food manufacturing, cold storage, or fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) warehousing environment.
NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent Health & Safety qualification as a minimum requirement.
Solid understanding of the specific workplace hazards associated with food production and large-scale logistics
Confident interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build relationships, influence positive behaviours, and communicate safety expectations clearly to both floor staff and senior leadership.
Proactive, organized, and flexible to undertake occasional travel to other operational sites across the island of Ireland (NI & ROI) as required.
A practical, analytical, and collaborative problem-solver who can address compliance challenges effectively without disrupting core operational efficiency.
