We are proud to partner with a highly respected, independent Belfast accountancy practice known for its deeply personal approach and exceptional support of local SMEs and sole traders. They are looking for an experienced Accounting Technician (Qualified or Part-Qualified) or a skilled Bookkeeper to join their close-knit, forward-thinking team in a full-time, permanent role based right in the city centre.

With a dedicated team of nine, including three partners, this firm offers a social, genuinely collaborative environment where everyone pulls together. It is a fast-paced but highly supportive office where your work directly impacts regional business growth.

The Role

The successful applicant will work closely with the partners to look after a diverse portfolio of small-to-medium enterprises and sole traders across Northern Ireland. Your day-to-day duties will include:

  • Preparing accounts up to trial balance and performing detailed analysis of banking transactions, including expenses and ledgers.
  • Managing comprehensive bank reconciliations and handling end-to-end VAT processing.
  • Overseeing payroll summaries and compliance for client businesses.
  • Acting as a reliable point of contact to support local business owners with their everyday financial queries.
  • Carrying out any other reasonable duties to support the wider team and partners as required.

The Person

To be considered for this role, applicants must clearly demonstrate:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience working within an accountancy practice.
  • Experience in processing payroll is desirable.
  • A strong, practical grasp of foundational accounting principles and routine practice duties.
  • Proficiency in modern cloud-accounting platforms like Xero, Sage, or similar software.
  • Exceptional Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
