Senior Communications Officer (peer role) in City of London

City of London Full-Time On-site
Inclusion Barnet

We're looking for an experienced communications professional to join our small but ambitious team and help tell the Inclusion Barnet story. This is a varied and hands‑on role where you'll work closely with the Head of Communications and Engagement, project leads, members, colleagues and partners to uncover powerful stories, translate complex information into engaging content, and help people understand who we are, what we do and the difference our work makes to Disabled people's lives. We're looking for someone who can see the bigger picture. As well as telling great stories, you'll be able to join the dots across our services, projects and influencing work, helping people understand how local lived experience contributes to wider change for Disabled people in Barnet, across London and through our Campaign for Disability Justice. You'll help shape how Inclusion Barnet tells its story, creating compelling content that brings lived experience, insight and evidence to life across our website, social media, newsletters and stakeholder communications. The role also leads our monthly online User Voice member meetings, from planning and facilitation through to follow-up actions, helping ensure members' voices continue to shape our work. Working as part of a small communications team, you'll coordinate day‑to‑day communications activity alongside our Communications Assistant, ensuring content is planned, delivered and aligned with organisational priorities. This is a hybrid role with regular travel across Barnet, typically two or three days per month. Time spent meeting colleagues, members, partners and community groups is an important part of the role, helping ensure our communications stay connected to the experiences of Disabled people in Barnet. We encourage flexible working to suit your work/life balance preferences where possible; however, some working days might be determined by external meetings. We also operate a Time Off In Lieu (TOIL) system. Inclusion Barnet is Barnet's Deaf and Disabled People's Organisation (DDPO), led by a Board and senior management team of Disabled people. Lived experience of disability, which could include a long term condition or mental health issues, is therefore essential for this role. If you're passionate about disability rights, great storytelling and using communications to help drive social change, we'd love to hear from you. Join us in ensuring Disabled people's voices, experiences and expertise are at the heart of creating change locally and beyond. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK., Please note we're not responsible for the content of job ads, as they're posted by the recruiter. We'll aim to resolve the reported issue and we'll use your feedback to improve the quality of our ads.
