This Senior Product Manager role is a unique opportunity to shape the future of our core platforms. It combines ownership of a specific platform domain with product leadership of our wider platform transformation.
In your vertical, you’ll work closely with a squad to rebuild and evolve critical systems (for example, order generation), ensuring they’re robust, scalable, and deliver clear business and customer outcomes. At the same time, you’ll play a pivotal cross-cutting role in our platform transformation - partnering with senior leaders in product and engineering to work towards our vision, ensuring transformation initiatives balance technical progress with visible customer and commercial value.
This role would suit a PM who thrives on complexity, enjoys connecting the dots across teams and systems, and has the communication skills to simplify technical change for diverse stakeholders. It’s not about being the most technical person in the room – it’s about being a systems thinker, a clear communicator, and a leader who can bring others on the journey.
You will be responsible for:
- Shape and own the Commerce Platforms product vision and roadmap.
- Work with your squad to deliver resilient, high-impact capabilities that underpin customer and business outcomes.
- Partner with Squad Lead and Engineers to rebuild critical systems (e.g., order generation), ensuring robustness, scalability, and efficiency.
- Define clear business and customer outcomes by connecting backend services to the experiences they enable and aligning technical capabilities with company strategy.
- Apply discovery techniques and agile practices to deliver value early, learn quickly, and improve continuously.
- Balance short-term delivery with long-term platform vision, making trade-offs explicit and maintaining momentum across concurrent workstreams.
- Refine the product backlog with actionable tickets that include context, feasibility, and clear acceptance criteria.
- Lead the platform transformation from a product perspective.
- Align people, priorities, and systems around a shared transformation vision.
- Define and communicate the platform transformation vision, goals, and roadmap in partnership with product and engineering leadership.
- Facilitate alignment across squads and verticals, ensuring transformation efforts connect to customer and business outcomes.
- Balance technical transformation (retiring legacy systems, introducing new services, integrating third parties) with visible customer and commercial value through informed trade-offs with engineering managers, architects, and senior leaders.
- Simplify complexity and provide clarity, ensuring stakeholders understand the "why" behind the change.
- Support fellow PMs in shaping vertical roadmaps that contribute to transformation goals and help teams adapt to new systems and approaches.
The skills you’ll bring:
- Proven track record leading cross-functional squads to deliver complex, transformation initiatives in backend, API, and systems-focused domains.
- Translates technical concepts into clear goals, roadmaps, and outcomes that align with company strategy.
- Deep understanding of how technical capabilities drive customer value and business outcomes.
- Systems thinker who connects dots across people, teams, and technology—diving into complexity, building subject matter expertise, and distilling insights for diverse audiences.
- Exceptional communicator who cuts through complexity, brings clarity, and builds alignment across stakeholders with competing priorities.
- Guides teams through change by creating shared understanding across multiple squads and bringing stakeholders along the journey.
- Shapes and manages backlogs with appropriate technical context, crafting user stories and applying agile practices to deliver value iteratively.
- Partners effectively with engineering managers, architects, and senior leaders to make informed trade-offs between technical investment and customer impact.
Even better if you have:
- Experience in start-up or scale-up environments.
- Background in subscription-based services, ideally involving physical product delivery.
- Knowledge of the pet, nutrition, or wellness categories.
- Familiarity with large-scale platform transformations in a growing business.
- Hands-on experience with advanced personalisation, machine learning, and AI-driven solutions.
What’s in it for you?
- Competitive salary, reviewed annually.
