Keep Critical Services Running When It Matters Most

At Incite Insight, we believe great Major Incident Managers are more than process experts - they're calm under pressure, trusted by stakeholders and able to bring technical teams together to restore services quickly and effectively.

We're working with a well-established organisation that relies on a high-performing IT operations function and we're looking for an experienced Major Incident Manager on contract who will play a key part in their team.

If you enjoy taking ownership of major incidents, leading technical discussions and making a real difference to service performance, this could be an excellent opportunity.

What you'll be doing

You’ll take ownership of high-impact service incidents from the moment they are identified through to full service restoration.

Working alongside technical specialists, suppliers and business stakeholders, you’ll ensure incidents are managed professionally, communications remain clear and everyone stays focused on achieving the best possible outcome.

Alongside major incident management, you’ll contribute to the wider Service Management function by supporting Change, Problem and Continual Service Improvement activities.

Your experience and judgement will help minimise operational risk while identifying opportunities to improve processes and service resilience.

What we're looking for

You’ll already have experience managing business-critical IT incidents within a complex operational environment and be comfortable coordinating multiple technical teams during periods of high pressure.

We’re particularly interested in people who can demonstrate

  • Previous Major Incident Management experience within an enterprise IT environment.
  • A strong understanding of ITIL Service Management principles.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage confidently at both technical and senior stakeholder level.
  • Experience of using Service Now or another enterprise ITSM platform.
  • A calm, organised approach with excellent decision-making skills.
  • Flexibility to support an operational shift or on-call rota where required.
  • What's on offer
  • Berkshire location
  • Initial contract with the potential for extension
  • Competitive day rate (Inside IR35)
  • Opportunity to work within a collaborative, high-performing IT operations team
  • Immediate interview availability

I'm looking for someone with at least 5 years of experience doing this sort of role, if that is you and you can work near Reading for at least two days every week then this could be for you.

It needs someone with strong technical understanding, a person who lives and breaths ITIL (at least V3) and is happy documenting it.

Knowledge of Problem Management, BCP/DR, Reporting, Availability, Capacity, Continual service improvement would be fab.
