The role will primarily focus on the end-to-end operational delivery of face-to-face events, including breakfast briefings, lunches, conferences, awards ceremonies and roadshows. The events are closely aligned with the division’s publications, with their readership forming the core audience and customer base. The majority of events are UK-based.
This role requires you to be the main point of contact for your brands portfolio of events, ensuring consistency, quality and best practice across delivery. As a key member of the Event Operations team, you will play a crucial role in shaping and delivering the events within your portfolio. You will be expected to think strategically about each event, proactively identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation to help achieve overall event objectives. You will work closely with other Event Managers and Coordinators to ensure the professional, efficient and seamless organisation of all event logistics.
As a Senior Event Manager, you will also be required to manage projects across teams, providing guidance and support where needed, while consistently delivering high-quality events on time and within budget. The role demands someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, can manage multiple stakeholders and priorities, and maintains strong attention to detail at all times. The role has a hybrid working pattern with a minimum of 3 days in the office; this may increase around core events.
Main responsibilities include:
- Manage and mentor your event operations team – 1 + reports and support delivery of events.
- Plan resources so you deliver the Finance calendar of events from conception to completion. These may include round tables, conferences, roadshows, and awards ceremonies, in the format of face to face, hybrid and online events.
- Inspire, mentor and coach your team and wider ops team to deliver the teams goals and objectives.
- Build supplier and venue relationships.
- Strong customer focus through the development of excellent client relationships with speakers, sponsors, delegates, and suppliers.
- Collaborate with the operations team and other departments (content production, sales, design, marketing, delegate acquisition, customer success etc.) on strategy and the successful execution of events.
- Demonstrate the ability to lead projects across event teams - sustainability, event technology, accessibility etc.
- Think outside the box and come up with innovative ideas that make the events stand out.
- Ensure maximum efficiency and lead the creation of new operational processes to deliver best practices across Incisive.
- Full responsibility for effective cost controls across all events & budget management of each event.
- Monitor supplier performance and ensure that the service received matches the business strategic aims, taking the lead to review output if they are underperforming.
What we value
The ideal candidate will have proven experience of several years managing operations for face-to-face sponsored events. Highly numerate with strong budget management skills. Highly motivated and able to work well autonomously as well as part of a team. Proven skills in developing strong supplier relationships.
