Overview of the role: Incisive Media’s leading publication Professional Pensions is looking for a confident and enthusiastic reporter who is willing to immerse themselves in the UK occupational pensions market. The reporter will have a strong desire to be out in the market, keen to chat to experts to learn about the industry and eager to attend a wide range of meetings and events to build their network of contacts. They will also relish the challenge of seeking out exclusive and off-diary news stories that will be of key interest to PP’s audience of trustees, pension fund managers, asset managers and advisers. The successful candidate will regularly write news, features and interviews as well as help produce multimedia content and assist with the chairing of some of PP’s own events. We welcome all applications, including those from recent graduates. The successful candidate will be mentored to both learn about the pensions market and to develop their skills as a reporter.

- Building and developing a network of industry contacts
- Helping identify and develop exclusive stories
- Contributing to multimedia content and assisting with PP events
- Keep ahead of key trends shaping the industry and help set the news agenda for PP.
What we value:
- Experience in journalism or a degree or equivalent in journalism or other relevant subject.
- The willingness to build and develop a wide network of pension industry contacts - eventually using them to break stories, verify information, and generate exclusive reporting opportunities.
- Comfortable approaching and chatting to senior industry figures at conferences and meetings and is willing to pick up the phone to get stories.
- A willingness to learn about pensions, investment and the broader UK financial services market.
- Some experience of writing news, features, analysis and interviews.
- Ability to write accurate copy to a high standard.
- A desire to produce off-diary and exclusive reporting.
- Demonstrable ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Experience of meeting short and long-term deadlines.
- Good grasp of media law.
