Role Summary: Responsible for overseeing and coordinating principal vessel appointments routed through the Service Centre, ensuring delivery to clients and meeting Inchcape Shipping Services’ standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Become a fully trained Operations Assistant within 12 months, meeting key accountabilities.
- Comply with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for service delivery.
- Utilize the ‘Optic’ IT system and ensure stakeholders do so.
- Perform daily operational tasks to support service delivery aligned with SOP and departmental strategy.
- Monitor Group Email for service‑delivery communications.
- Coordinate vessel calls with local agents and stakeholders to optimise port calls, avoiding delays and extra costs.
- Monitor local agency performance and enforce service‑delivery standards.
- Build stakeholder relationships.
- Track KPI and cost‑saving metrics and record data.
- Ensure compliance with principal requests, procedures, policies, and contractual requirements.
- Work on call (Duty – AOH) on a rota basis.
- Carry out any other duties as assigned by line manager.
- Maintain 100% compliance with ISS Ethics Policy, UK legal requirements, and the ISS HSSE Management System.
- Report all accidents, incidents and near‑misses.
- Act within area of accountability to support HSSE for job holder and others affected by work activities.
Candidate Requirements:
- Experience or knowledge in shipping, transportation or logistics.
- Knowledge or experience in maritime operations.
- Customer‑service orientation.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team with initiative.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Good time‑management skills.
- General administration – PC literacy, including Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Minimum A‑level or higher (desirable).
- ICS Shipping qualification (desirable).
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
