Is this your chance to join the team constructing one of Scotland's largest offshore wind farms? Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm is a 1080MW offshore wind farm situated 15km from the Angus coast in the North Sea. The power it generates will be transmitted 85 kilometres to a new substation at Cockenzie, in East Lothian from where it will enter the national transmission system. Inch Cape is a more than £3 billion infrastructure project that will make a significant contribution to the UK's carbon emissions reduction targets. Once complete its 72 turbines will generate enough electricity to power almost half the homes in Scotland.

Summary of Assignment: The Offshore Commissioning Rep is responsible for monitoring all installation and commissioning activities during the Offshore Substation Construction and Commissioning phase at Wallsend yard and following it offshore. The Offshore Commissioning Rep reports to the offshore commissioning lead and the Wind Farm Commissioning Lead. Initial rotation in Wallsend will be 5 days a week and then this will change to 14/14 when we mobilise offshore.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in on site Commissioning Meetings to coordinate the Commissioning scopes
  • Attend Site Acceptance Tests on behalf of ICOL to ensure equipment is tested in line with ITP, relevant standards and in line with ICOL Employers Requirements
  • Manage interface commissioning activities between SEL and ICOL equipment
  • Liaison with SEL quality team to inspect and sign off punch list items
  • Review relevant Contractor Commissioning Programmes and Commissioning documentation to confirm it meets the needs of Employers Requirements and relevant standards
  • Create operational instructions/guides on each item of equipment that can be used for the lifetime of the project
  • Assist the relevant Package Engineers to answer TQ's, review design, raise issues, provide guidance and advice from lessons learnt and previous experience
  • Close collaboration with the Contractor Commissioning Teams and SAP Team to effectively produce and plan the Commissioning Switching Programmes to facilitate the first time Energisation of equipment and subsequent live Commissioning tests

Skills:

  • Good communicator
  • Familiar with standard office IT systems such as Microsoft
  • Can lead and manage teams of people

Knowledge:

  • 10 years Commissioning experience
  • Extensive knowledge of Power Systems, equipment, SCADA and Protection Systems
  • Previous experience working for or alongside Siemens Energy, National Grid or Scottish Power Transmission
  • Previously held a similar position either for Client or Contractor
  • Worked in High Voltage Substation up to 220kV and held Authorisations (minimum Competent Person)

Qualifications:

  • Electrical apprenticeship and higher education in electrical systems
  • BESCSHEA Power
  • Client Contractor National Safety Group Passport
  • CSCS
