We are recruiting for a Yard Operative role with a leading manufacturer of diesel fuel storage tanks and fuel management systems, based in Moreton in Marsh, Gloucestershire.
Salary / Rate of Pay: £14 per hour (£29,120 per year), plus overtime
Working Hours: 8.30 am to 5.00 pm Monday to Friday
Work Environment: You will work both outdoors and indoors in a yard. The job requires some lifting and handling of materials. You must wear protective equipment, including:
- gloves
- boots
- high-visibility clothing
- a hard hat
- eye and ear protection
During busy times, you may need to work extra hours.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Full UK driving licence
- Hands-on experience in a yard
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and cleaning equipment
- Knowledge of safe manual handling practices
- Physically fit to handle moderate to heavy equipment
Yard Operative Role Purpose: To support the safe and efficient handling, preparation, maintenance, and movement of fuel tank waste and associated equipment within the yard. The Yard Operative will ensure all waste tanks, tools, and materials are correctly processed, cleaned, stored, loaded, and maintained in line with company procedures and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the loading and unloading of fuel waste, equipment, and materials using forklifts
- Support the stripping, cleaning, and preparation of hire fuel tanks prior to delivery to new sites or cleaning of returned tanks
- Carry out minor maintenance, grinding, sanding, and painting tasks on tanks
- Maintain yard organisation, ensuring a clean, tidy, and safe working environment
Fuel Tank Compliance Tasks:
- Assist with tank decommissioning preparation, including draining and cleaning (as trained)
- Pressure washing, degassing support (TBC when trained)
- Ensure all tanks are properly labelled, segregated, and stored according to company procedures
Desirable but not essential:
- Forklift licence (Counterbalance or Telehandler)
- Experience using grinders, sanders, pressure washers, or gantries
Salary and Benefits:
- Salary / Rate of Pay: £14 per hour (£29,120 per year), plus overtime
- Working Hours: 8.30am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday
- Overtime: Paid after 40 hours per week
- Training and development (FLT, CSCS, confined space, etc.)
