We are recruiting for a Quality Manager with FAIR experience, aerospace experience, and some managerial skills. The ideal candidate can communicate effectively, support the team, and juggle changing priorities, including sub-con quotes, FAIR completion, and audits. They will join a team of 2 skilled inspectors to manage.
A specialist manufacturer of high precision metallic and PTFE machine components for the global Aerospace sector. The candidate must be experienced in the aerospace sector and will be responsible for management, maintenance, and monitoring of Quality Management Systems. They will have line-management responsibility for the Inspection team, act as the company's management representative in all quality matters, and run the inspection and test departments.
The Quality Manager must be confident working to ISO 9100 / AS9100 standards and able to create/approve FAIRs.
Purpose of RoleMaintain quality control within the manufacturing process, in line with business standards and customer requirements. Primarily responsible for all Calibration, Testing, Qualification, and associated Approvals. Inspect and verify parts at all stages within the business. Maintain required calibrated equipment in readiness for manufacturing at all times. Deliver training on VisualFAIR software in line with Customer/Design Authority Approval Requirements. Create and approve FAIR / LAIR to specification. Identify any resource, investment, and/or approval requirements. Act as Approved Signatory for Release and other inspection-related quality processes within the Quality Management System. Plan and conduct internal and external audits to ISO 9100 and AS9100 standards. Manage, lead, and control the team to drive continuous improvement, identifying performance concerns and development opportunities. Identify training needs for the team and conduct as necessary. Communicate and manage daily workload, ensuring discipline and effective issue management. Support business objectives at all times. Participate in management review meetings with the Production Team and other management meetings.
Core Skills / Attributes Needed- Experienced in the aerospace sector.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Recent First Article Inspection experience (FAIR / LAIR).
- Maintain regular, consistent attendance and punctuality.
- Experience with OASIS.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9100, AS9100, EASA standards.
- Qualified to conduct internal/external audits.
- Support colleagues in sharing knowledge and skills for continuous development.
- Strong initiative and time management skills; able to balance priorities confidently.
- Attention to detail, including numeracy.
- Work with colleagues to implement company policies and goals.
- Good communication and computer literacy, including Excel.
Working Pattern: 4-day week - Monday to Thursday, 06:45-16:30; 37-hour week (15-minute paid break and 30-minute unpaid lunch). Holiday: Annual Leave: 16 days per annum, plus 8 UK bank holidays (24 days total). Employee Benefits: Pension Plan, Health Cash Plan, Life Assurance, EAP, Shopping Discounts.
