The Opportunity
We have an excellent opportunity for a skilled CNC Engineer to join a specialist aerospace manufacturer, developing their expertise in centreless grinding while working across a range of CNC and second-operation machinery. Reporting to the Production Manager, you'll be responsible for setting and operating CNC and manual second-operation equipment, manufacturing precision aerospace components to extremely tight tolerances. This role offers the opportunity to broaden your engineering skills in a modern precision manufacturing environment while working in line with strict quality and health & safety standards.
Previous centreless grinding experience is advantageous but not essential. Full training will be provided to engineers who are keen to learn. A significant part of the role will involve centreless grinding alongside other second-operation processes, making this an excellent opportunity for someone looking to expand their technical capabilities.
We're looking for an engineer who has:
- Experience setting and operating CNC machinery.
- The ability to read engineering drawings and work to extremely tight tolerances.
- Excellent measurement skills, including the confident use of micrometres to micron-level accuracy.
- Experience within a precision engineering environment, ideally supplying the aerospace industry.
- A willingness to learn and develop new machining skills, particularly centreless grinding.
This position will primarily involve second-operation machining rather than CNC turning, working on equipment including grinders, capstan machines, drill banks and other precision manual machining equipment to produce high-quality aerospace components.
Additional information:
- 16 days annual leave (based on a 4-day working week), plus 8 bank holidays
- Working hours Monday to Thursday; 37-hour week (15 minute paid break and 30 minute unpaid lunch break)
- Employee Benefits including; Pension Plan, Health Cash Plan, Life Assurance, EAP and Shopping Discounts.
