We need an Electrical Design Manager for a project in London Stratford, specifically requiring experience with the LU / TfL project. This position is with a major player in electrical installations in London. We are looking for contractors to fill this role, which will start with an initial 1-year contract. The work schedule will be three days a week in TfL\’s office in Stratford and two days of remote work. We aim to interview candidates and hire someone by the start of August, allowing for a two-month handover period from the current manager. This role requires taking on a good amount of responsibility and heading up a large design team. We expect that electrical engineers with good management experience would fit the bill or potentially design managers who come from a technical electrical background. We have just filled the CAD role. We really need someone who’s a standout for this as they will be key for keeping the team and project moving. Here are the main bullet points for the role, along with additional details provided below: * Co-managing a team of 12 Electrical Engineers and 3 CAD Technicians. * Managing the delivery of electrical designs to support 4G & 5G infrastructure being installed on the London Underground. * Previous LU / TfL project experience preferable but not essential. * Strong knowledge of electrical design processes, deliverables, and software packages required. * Role may suit a Senior / Principle / Associate Electrical Engineer with experience managing teams and projects, or a Design Manager with a sufficient technical background. * Would suit someone who has worked contractor side and not exclusively consultancy. * Some key responsibilities: * Managing the design programme. * Liaising with the client / third parties. * Dealing with design issues and supporting the rest of the team with their design work. * Carrying out technical reviews of electrical design packages. * Providing management support to the CAD team. * Organising surveys (these are carried out on our behalf by our installation team). * Managing resource, assisting with further recruitment if required. * Raising queries to the client and TfL, taking the blockers from engineer’s designs upstream to find resolutions. * Hold third parties & client to account when requiring information for designs or responses on queries/blockers.
