We are recruiting for a mechanical design engineer for a job opportunity with a specialist manufacturer of bespoke hydraulic testing and motion-simulation systems based in Egham, Surrey. They are recruiting Mechanical Design Engineers at both mid-level and senior level.
Salary: GBP40,000 - GBP60,000, negotiable depending on experience and suitability for the mid-level or senior position.
The role involves:
- Designing mechanical assemblies for bespoke hydraulic and motion-control systems
- Producing 3D models, general assemblies, manufacturing drawings and bills of materials
- Designing hydraulic actuators, control manifolds, bearings, load cells, welded structures and pipework
- Applying GD&T, tolerance analysis, material selection and basic stress analysis/FEA
- Designing for manufacture, assembly, servicing and UKCA/CE compliance
- Supporting design reviews, production, suppliers, testing and fault-finding
- Taking ownership of allocated design packages and, depending on experience, leading projects and supporting junior engineers
They are particularly interested in candidates with experience using SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software, producing BS 8888 manufacturing drawings, and designing precision-machined or fabricated components. Hydraulic or pneumatic equipment experience would be especially valuable.
The position is primarily based in Egham, Surrey, with occasional worldwide travel when required.
