We need a Design and Development Engineer for a manufacturer in New Addington, Croydon. Pay is £45,000 - £55,000 a year.
Specialist manufacturing engineering SME serving high-reliability sectors like nuclear, defence, and aerospace. We design and manufacture detector products for diverse applications in the UK and export markets.
In this role, you will provide Mechanical Engineering expertise, supporting the operational activities of the company in meeting order book requirements and providing technical support to maximise sales opportunities and enhance customer perception of the capabilities and responsiveness of the company. Your focus will be on identifying, evaluating and, where agreed, implementing new product and product/process development opportunities.
To be considered for this role you must have a minimum HNC and/or equivalent experience working in an engineering discipline (ideally a solid background in mechanical engineering in a relevant field). You will have a good understanding of materials and mechanical properties, material selection and testing, as well as an understanding of manufacturing and production methods – general assembly, welding and brazing, and non-destructive testing. Experience of interfacing with customers on a commercial and technical level is a must in this role; therefore, you will be a well-organised, strong communicator with good people skills and the ability to work to schedules and meet deadlines.
Please note this is a full-time on-site job and we are based within ULEZ. Working hours: 5 days per week (37.5 hrs), Monday to Thursday 8.00AM-4.45PM, Friday 8.00AM - 12.30PM.
