Ince CE Primary and Nursery School, Charles Street, Ince, Wigan, WN2 2AL.

Salary: Grade 3, £21,907 per annum (£13.26 per hour). 37 hours per week, term plus one week working 39 weeks per year. Temporary until 31st August 2027. Required for 1st September 2026.

The Governors and Headteacher of Ince CE Primary and Nursery School are seeking to employ a temporary attendance assistant to join our Pastoral Team, who embodies the Christian vision and values of our school. Ince CE Primary and Nursery School is a large two form entry primary school in the heart of Ince. The successful candidate must be a highly motivated, innovative professional who has high expectations of themselves, colleagues and pupils, and have the energy and determination to make a difference.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor accurate pupil attendance and lateness records on a daily basis.
  • Follow up on pupil absence and lateness by telephone or other means, on a daily basis with guidance from the Pastoral Manager, making appropriate referrals.
  • Check the accuracy and correct coding on registers.
  • Liaise with outside agencies, parents/carers, social services, other schools in relation to information on pupil attendance.
  • Liaise with the local authority attendance officer.
  • Raise the profile of attendance through consistent and clear communication via Class Dojo, newsletter, school website, celebration assemblies and award systems.
  • Arrange and lead meetings with parents/carers and external agencies in the support of pupils and their families.
  • Conduct home visits with another member of the Pastoral Team.
  • Encourage good practice by promoting and championing the child protection policy and procedures.
