This role requires extensive and frequent travel around the UK, and while you can be based anywhere within the UK, the expectation is that you are comfortable with extended travel around the country.
Our client, a leading provider of advanced wireless connectivity solutions, is seeking a Senior Wireless Network Engineer to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced professional to play a key role in designing, deploying, and optimizing wireless networks, including cellular, Wi-Fi, and private 5G, for enterprise customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct site surveys and RF assessments for Wi-Fi, cellular, private 5G, and kinetic mesh networks.
- Perform network and radio design, including frequency planning, interference analysis, and link budget calculations.
- Generate detailed survey reports and design documentation for customers.
- Collaborate with subcontractor installation teams to ensure correct cabling and hardware deployment.
- Carry out on-site system commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of wireless networks.
- Conduct walk testing and performance validation for cellular and Wi-Fi deployments.
- Support Cel-Fi technology installations, ensuring reliable connectivity and optimal performance.
- Provide technical support and recommendations to internal teams and customers.
- Stay up to date with emerging wireless technologies and best practices in network deployment.
Requirements:
- Extensive experience in field-based wireless network engineering.
- Strong knowledge of Wi-Fi (802.11), private 5G, and RF radio systems.
- Proven experience in site surveying, RF planning, and spectrum analysis.
- Hands-on experience with RF testing, walk testing, and network validation tools.
- Familiarity with cellular, private LTE/5G networks and/or enterprise Wi-Fi solutions.
- Strong ability to generate technical survey reports and network designs.
- Experience working alongside installation and cabling subcontractors.
- Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in wireless network deployments.
- Willingness to travel across the UK regularly.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with Ekahau, iBwave, or other RF planning tools.
- Familiarity with Starlink, satellite communications, or mobile backhaul solutions.
- Previous experience in DAS technology or digital customer experience solutions.
- Knowledge of network security principles related to wireless deployments.
- Vendor certifications such as CWNA, CWDP, or equivalent RF/wireless qualifications.
