About our client
Our client is a specialist managed connectivity provider, delivering satellite, wireless and enterprise network solutions for organisations operating in remote, mobile and operationally challenging environments.
They work across sectors including maritime, rail, construction, energy, utilities, broadcast, emergency services, retail and remote enterprise operations. Their solutions include managed Starlink services, Amazon Leo, OneWeb, multi-LEO connectivity, enterprise networking, installation, monitoring, support and their own Starlink management platform.
As our client continues to grow across the UK, Europe, the US and international markets, they are looking for a proactive Communications & Events Officer to help raise their profile, support their PR activity, manage social communications and coordinate a growing calendar of internal and external events.
Role overview
The Communications & Events Officer will support the planning, coordination and delivery of our client's PR, social media, events, awards and internal communications activity.
This is a varied, hands‑on role suited to someone who is organised, confident with written communication, comfortable managing multiple projects and interested in technology, connectivity and fast‑growing B2B markets.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Marketing Director, senior leadership team, sales team and wider business to help tell the company's story, promote key projects, support event activity and strengthen the company's external profile.
Key responsibilities
PR, awards and internal communications
- Support the drafting, editing and distribution of press releases, media statements, company announcements and trade press stories.
- Help identify PR opportunities across customer projects, partnerships, product launches, events, awards and company milestones.
- Maintain media lists across relevant trade, business, technology, maritime, rail, construction, energy and regional press.
- Coordinate journalist outreach, media follow‑ups and PR reporting.
- Support the development of case studies, customer stories and project announcements.
- Track media coverage and maintain a record of press mentions, campaign results and key coverage.
- Research relevant award opportunities and maintain a simple awards calendar.
- Draft and coordinate award entries, gathering evidence from across the business where required.
- Support internal announcements, staff briefings and company updates linked to major news, events, awards, project wins and product launches.
- Work with internal stakeholders to gather project information, customer insights and supporting evidence for communications activity.
Social media and digital communications
- Support the marketing team with the planning, creation and scheduling of social media content across the company's main channels, especially LinkedIn.
- Draft posts covering company news, events, customer projects, awards, team updates, technology updates and thought leadership.
- Coordinate visual requirements with internal teams, external designers or agencies where required.
- Monitor social media engagement, sector conversations and relevant customer or partner activity.
- Support senior leadership and employee advocacy content where appropriate.
- Help maintain a consistent tone of voice across external communications.
Events management
- Support the planning and delivery of the external events programme, including trade shows, conferences, exhibitions, customer events, webinars and partner events.
- Coordinate event logistics including registrations, stand requirements, suppliers, travel, accommodation, collateral, merchandise, presentation materials and briefing documents.
- Liaise with sales teams and senior stakeholders to agree objectives, messaging, target contacts and follow‑up plans for each event.
- Support pre‑event and post‑event communications, including social posts, email activity, website updates and sales enablement materials.
- Attend selected events to support set‑up, coordination, content capture and on‑the‑day delivery.
- Help manage internal events, including staff briefings, company updates, internal launches and team engagement activity.
- Maintain an events calendar and ensure deadlines, budgets and actions are tracked clearly.
Skills and experience
- Experience in a communications, PR, or events role.
- Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to produce clear, accurate and engaging copy.
- Good understanding of social media, especially LinkedIn in a B2B environment.
- Excellent organisation and project coordination skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines, stakeholders and priorities.
- Comfortable working with senior team members, sales teams and technical colleagues.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Confident communicator with a proactive, can‑do approach.
- Ability to work independently while taking direction from the Marketing Director.
- Experience working in telecoms, technology, engineering, infrastructure, maritime, transport, construction, energy, utilities, public sector, or another B2B sector.
- Experience supporting trade shows, exhibitions, conferences or webinars.
- Experience drafting press releases, media pitches or award submissions.
- Experience coordinating suppliers, designers, photographers, videographers or event contractors.
