Snowflake Data Architect
Remote
Hours – some flexibility required as you will be working with US & EU teams.
Salary – £80-90k (maybe flex for the right person)
I am working with a long-established tech consultancy (founded in 2003) and we’re looking for a Snowflake Data Architect to take the lead on a busy customer environment. This one’s for someone who loves good architecture and isn’t afraid to get hands-on in the data when needed.
The role:
You’ll be the person who takes control of the Snowflake architecture and makes sure the platform is scalable, governed properly, and genuinely usable for the people relying on it day-to-day.
Key focus areas:
- Own the Snowflake environment: architecture, structure, standards, and future direction
- Table & model optimisation: performance, cost efficiency, and maintainability
- Data governance & access controls: including sensible restrictions (e.g. protecting sensitive location data)
- Data integrity & quality: making sure what lands in Snowflake stays trustworthy
- BI/dashboard responsibility: overseeing dashboard creation and supporting migration from Qlik
- Partnering with engineering + analytics engineering to turn requirements into a clean, governed data platform
- AWS exposure is a bonus (not essential, but helpful)
The team you’ll be working with:
You won’t be starting from scratch — there’s an established customer team already in place, including Engineers and Analytics Engineers. Your job is to step in as the architecture lead, provide direction, and make sure the foundations are solid.
What we’re looking for:
- Proven experience as a Data Architect in modern data platforms
- Strong Snowflake expertise (roles, warehouses, storage, security, performance)
- Expert SQL
- Confident designing architecture and rolling your sleeves up when needed
- Comfortable with data governance, access controls, and stakeholder expectations
- Strong communication: you can explain why decisions are being made, not just what they are
Nice-to-haves:
- AWS experience
Why this is a great one:
If you enjoy being the person who brings order to the chaos—setting standards, improving performance, tightening governance, and making data actually usable—you’ll love this. It’s a proper “architect with impact” role.
