Contract Solution Architect / Principal Consultant (Cloud & Software Engineering) Hybrid (3 days onsite per week, West London)

Rate: £575 to £625 per day (Outside IR35)

Contract Length: 3 months with option to extend

Our client, a fast-scaling cloud consultancy, partners with leading organisations to modernise their technology landscape through DevOps, platform engineering, automation, and software transformation. Following continued growth, they’re expanding their senior technical leadership team to shape and deliver large-scale customer engagements.

As a Solution Architect / Principal Consultant, you will:

  • Define end-to-end technical architectures that solve complex business challenges.
  • Partner directly with C-level and engineering stakeholders to shape technical strategy and delivery direction.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams through architecture, design, and implementation, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
  • Influence technology decisions across modern programming, infrastructure, and automation ecosystems.
  • Act as a trusted advisor: translating business objectives into technical solutions that deliver measurable impact.

This is a strategic, customer-facing role requiring both depth of technical expertise and strong commercial awareness. You will have the autonomy to shape engagements, set standards, and influence the direction of both client and internal engineering teams.

Technical Profile

  • 7+ years’ experience in software engineering or cloud architecture, with recent focus on solution design and delivery leadership.
  • Deep experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure, including infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Crossplane, Ansible).
  • Proven ability to architect and deploy containerised systems (Docker, Kubernetes) at scale.
  • Proficiency in one or more modern languages — Go, Python, Java, Ruby, TypeScript.
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD, DevOps automation, and secure cloud operations.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills — able to influence at both technical and executive levels.
