Our client is a specialist engineering business delivering bespoke mechanical handling, conveyor and automation solutions to customers within the automotive and manufacturing sectors. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit a Junior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their expanding team.

Location: Solihull

Role: Full Time | Monday - Friday | 8am - 5pm

Pay Rate: £13 - £16 per hour (depending on experience)

Temporary to Permanent

  • Candidates currently studying towards a Mechanical Engineering qualification
  • Individuals qualified to BTEC, HNC, HND or Degree level in Mechanical Engineering or Design Engineering
  • Candidates with a genuine interest in mechanical design, automation and engineering projects
  • Young engineers looking to take the next step in their career
  • Individuals looking to begin their career journey within design engineering

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the design team with mechanical handling and conveyor system projects
  • Producing 2D and 3D CAD drawings and associated design documentation
  • Assisting with bespoke mechanical design solutions for automotive and manufacturing customers
  • Supporting project engineers through concept, design and build stages
  • Working closely with manufacturing and installation teams
  • Assisting with design modifications and continuous improvement activities
  • Learning about materials, fabrication methods and automation systems
  • Supporting technical documentation and drawing updates

What We're Looking For:

  • Engineering qualification (BTEC, HNC, HND or Degree preferred)
  • Interest in mechanical design and automation
  • Basic understanding of CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor or AutoCAD
  • Strong problem-solving mindset
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Genuine interest in engineering and design
  • Experience within automotive, conveyors, automation or manufacturing environments would be advantageous but is not essential.
