A specialist controls and automation engineering company based in Telford is seeking a talented Engineer to join their Test & Validation team. Working in close partnership with customers worldwide, you will apply advanced control techniques to solve complex engineering challenges across the full commissioning lifecycle from software development through to on-site sign-off. This is a technically demanding, varied role well-suited to an engineer who thrives in a fast-paced, project-driven environment. It offers genuine scope for international travel, technical progression, and skills development across the latest PLC and automation platforms.
Salary: £45k - £55k Dependent on experience
Working Hours: Monday - Friday 08:45 - 17:00hrs, 37.5 hrs / week, Finish Early Friday

Key Responsibilities:
- PLC programming using Allen Bradley Rockwell and Siemens S7/TIA Portal - writing, developing and structuring code
- Development of ladder logic, statement list and function block programs
- Configuration of system communications: EtherNet/IP, Modbus and Profibus
- Set-up and commissioning of AC/DC drives and inverters
- Application of PID control for flow, level, pressure, temperature and humidity systems
- Performance of hardware and software testing and validation
- On-site commissioning of new systems at UK and international customer locations
- Delivery of customer training on commissioned systems
- Development of Robot and PLC software as required
- Remote customer support - fault finding and diagnostics
- Adherence to Risk Assessment procedures and Health & Safety requirements
Key Skills & Experience:
- Proven PLC programming experience - Allen Bradley / Rockwell as a minimum (essential)
- PLC/SCADA system design and development
- Systems, software and hardware development background
- Experience commissioning automated systems in industrial or manufacturing environments
- Confident communicator, able to represent the business to customers at a high standard
- Self-motivated, accountable and keen to take responsibility
Desirable:
- Familiarity with Ignition SCADA systems
- Experience with Robot software development
Qualifications:
- BEng or MEng in Electrical, Electronics or Mechatronics (preferred)
- BTEC with significant controls engineering experience will be considered
Other:
- Full, clean UK driving licence
- Valid passport (international travel required)
