A well-established automation and control systems business based in Telford is looking for a hands-on Technician to join its Engineering department. The Technician will be responsible for the test and validation of bespoke systems and equipment both at the company’s Telford facility and at customer sites worldwide. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically competent individual with a strong electrical or electromechanical background who enjoys varied, practical work. You will be involved at every stage from in-house system build and software commissioning through to on-site installation, fault resolution and customer training.
Salary: £45k - £55k Dependent on experience
Working Hours: Monday - Friday 08:45 - 17:00hrs, 37.5 hrs / week

Key Responsibilities:
- Test and validation of systems and equipment at the company’s Telford base and worldwide customer sites
- System software commissioning and generation (Robot AS, PLC and Kepware code)
- Fault finding and diagnostics on complex control and automated systems
- Fault rectification and system-wide test and inspection
- Set-up of in-house system software and industrial PCs
- Delivery of customer training on systems and equipment
- Planned and reactive system servicing
- Development and modification of Robot and PLC software
- Modification of engineering drawings to support system build and quality improvement
- Writing procedures, test plans and technical documentation including training modules
- Remote customer support fault finding and diagnostics
- Compliance with Risk Assessment and Health & Safety requirements
Key Skills & Experience:
- Ability to read and interpret both mechanical and electrical technical drawings
- Hands-on experience building and testing electrical and mechanical equipment
- Methodical approach to fault finding and diagnostics
- Confident and professional manner able to represent the business to customers
- Flexible and self-driven, with a commitment to continued learning
Qualifications:
- Degree or HNC in an electrical discipline (preferred)
- Equivalent hands-on work experience will be considered
Other:
- Full, clean UK driving licence
- Valid passport (international travel required)
