The Opportunity

This is a rare opportunity for a driven, disciplined, and commercially focused sales professional to join a high-performing team at a pivotal point in our growth journey. As Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for identifying and winning new business, deepening relationships with existing clients, and delivering consultative, solutions-led sales across our full product range. This is not a role for someone looking to go through the motions. It is a role for someone who is structured in their approach, tenacious in their pursuit of results, and uncompromising in their integrity. If you are the kind of person who takes ownership, thrives under pressure, and genuinely enjoys solving problems for clients we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify, target, and develop new business opportunities across the automated gate, barrier, and access control market, building a strong and well-managed pipeline at all times.
  • Manage and strategically grow a portfolio of existing client accounts, ensuring consistently high levels of service, satisfaction, and retention.
  • Conduct site surveys, technical consultations, and client-facing presentations, delivering compelling proposals that address real client needs and overcome objections with confidence and credibility.
  • Develop and maintain strong, trusted relationships with key decision-makers across specifiers, contractors, architects, facilities managers, local authorities, and end users.
  • Prepare detailed quotes, project specifications, and tailored proposals in collaboration with internal technical and operations teams.
  • Own your sales pipeline from prospecting through to close, maintaining accurate and up-to-date CRM records and providing regular, structured reporting to the Head of Sales.
  • Demonstrate a solutions-driven mindset in every client interaction, listening first, understanding the client's challenge, and presenting the right product or service to meet it.
  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and networking functions, building the company's profile and your own as a credible expert in the sector.
  • Consistently meet and exceed agreed KPIs and revenue targets, with a clear ambition to grow both personally and as part of a winning team.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who brings the following to the role, not just on paper, but in practice and in character.

  • Proven track record in field-based, solutions-led B2B sales, ideally within automated gates, barriers, access control, door automation, security systems, or a closely related technical sector.
  • Demonstrated ability to win new business and manage complex, project-based sales cycles from initial contact through to contract and delivery.
  • Strong consultative selling skills - you listen, you understand, and you build a compelling case. You handle objections with confidence and without pressure tactics.
  • Excellent rapport-building skills across all levels, from site operative to boardroom decision-maker. You build trust quickly and maintain it over the long term.
  • Commercially astute, with a clear understanding of margins, pricing strategy, and what it takes to close profitably.
  • Organised, structured, and self-disciplined - you manage your own time and territory effectively without needing to be managed.
  • Comfortable using CRM systems to manage pipeline, forecast accurately, and report clearly.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Character & Values

  • Integrity - you do what you say you will do, every time. Clients trust you because you have earned it.
  • Drive - you are motivated by achievement and by being part of something that is winning. You set high standards for yourself and you hold yourself to them.
  • Resilience - you understand that sales is not always linear. You learn from setbacks, adapt quickly, and come back stronger.
  • Team-first mindset - you contribute to a positive, high-performance culture. You share knowledge, support colleagues, and take genuine pride in collective success.
  • Solutions focus - you see challenges as problems to solve, not reasons to walk away. You are creative, persistent, and client-centric in everything you do.

If this is a challenge for you please get in touch for a screening interview ASAP.
